1) Resize the start menu
Everyone is aware that Microsoft is bringing back the good old start menu. The start menu has been given an uplift in terms of the design. But what’s really cool is that now you have the ability to resize the start menu. The only thing that you need to do is to drag the top edge of the start menu upwards or downwards depending on your preference.
2) Pin the recycle bin to the taskbar
Do you remember being able to pin the recycle bin to the taskbar? Probably not, because you couldn’t do that in the earlier versions of Windows. Windows 10 allows you to pin the recycle bin to the taskbar. Once you do that it becomes very easy to access the recycle bin. To achieve this, place the recycle bin icon on the start screen. Right-click on the icon and select ‘Pin to taskbar’
3) New keyboard shortcuts for Windows 10
Next in line for the Windows 10 tips and tricks are the new keyboard shortcuts for Windows 10. With a host of new features in the new operating system, new keyboard shortcuts have been introduced. We will list the new Windows 10 keyboard shortcuts one by one.
- Snap Windows – WIN + LEFT/RIGHT
- New task view – WIN + TAB
- New virtual desktop creation – WIN + CTRL + D
- Close the virtual desktop – WIN + CTRL + F4

4) Windows command prompt hotkeys.
Another addition to our Windows 10 tips and tricks is the command prompt hotkeys in Windows 10. Usually command prompt is not frequently used by everyone but for the geeks. We have a few hotkeys that will certainly help in increasing your productivity.
- Select text – SHIFT + LEFT/RIGHT
- To find within the command prompt – CTRL + F
- Enable history navigation – CTRL + UP ARROW
- Select using the mouse (mark mode) – CTRL + M
- Select all – CTRL + A
- Copy – CTRL + C
- Paste – CTRL + V
- Exit the command prompt – ALT + F4
5) Change the colour of start menu
You can easily change the colour of the start menu in Windows 10. You just need to open the Start menu > Right click > Personalize and select the colour that you prefer.
6) Add virtual desktops
Windows is very late to the party when we talk about virtual desktops. Mac and Linux users have been using this feature for quite sometime now. Anyways, better late than never Microsoft ! The virtual desktop feature is called ‘Task View’ and you can find this on the taskbar. Once you click on the ‘Task View’, you will get an option to ‘Add a desktop’. When you click on this option, the virtual desktop will be added. You can add a number of virtual desktops as per your convenience. All the virtual desktops created in Windows 10 can be easily differentiated by their respective thumbnails in the ‘Task View’
7) Windows 10 keylogger
Now this one is a real tip when compared with all of the other Windows 10 tips and tricks. There have been changes in terms of user’s privacy in Windows 10. It is believed that Microsoft is collecting spoken text and keystrokes from user’s. Microsoft have claimed that they only use the voice information to improve their speech processing. The voice information is collected when you use the speech-to-text feature. The text you enter is collected to improve the spell check and autocomplete features. We can only advise you to be careful with what you speak and type on your Windows 10 system.
