Test Your Internet Speed with These Free Apps

December 2, 2019 by Amey Leave a Comment

Do you use your cell phone carrier data to access the internet on your phone and other devices?

Cell Phone carrier data can be dodgy sometimes. Some days you get a lightning-fast internet speed while on other days loading a simple webpage takes minutes. This is where internet speed testing apps come into play. These apps present to you the download/browsing and upload speeds.

Here Are the Free Apps to Help You Test Your Internet Speed

1) FAST

My personal favorite, Fast is one of the best apps to test internet speed on your phone. The web version of this app is also quite popular as it is developed and maintained by Netflix– a popular TV-subscription service. The clean and ad-free user interface is what I like the most about Fast. You could be anywhere in the world and still use this app without any hassles.

2) SpeedSmart Speed Test

SpeedSmart is an internet speed testing app by Veeapps. The creator of this app claims that it can test internet speed within 30 seconds. Which I found to be absolutely true. With SpeedSmart, you can test your internet speed on both (3G, 4G, LTE) and Wi-Fi connection. Moreover, in comparison with tried and trusted apps like Ookla Speed tester, this app seems to give quite accurate readings.

3) Speedtest by Ookla

Clearly, Speedtest by Ookla is one of the best apps to determine your internet speed. The user interface looks so professional, it is hard to imagine this app is free. Unlike Fast by Netflix, this app will also offer you additional information about the network coverage. You can also view the name of your internet service provider. Which no other free internet speed testing app lets you know.

4) SpeedTest Master

SpeedTest Master is created by a developer with the name “Test speed internet & Net meter”. It can help you test 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, DSL, ADSL, and WIFI connection. If your intention is to just know the internet speed, I would recommend other apps like Fast and Speedtest, but if you wish to know in-depth network facts, then this is your app. Ads are the only downside of SpeedTest Master.

5) Meteor

Meteor is free internet speed and performance testing app by OpenSignal. Just like Speedtest by Ookla, Meteor too has a professional look. The graphics are simply mind-blowing. Secondly, this app also saves history. Each time you perform a speed test, the results get saved along with timestamp. This can help you keep track of signal strength in different parts of your home. Find the room with the optimal signal and enjoy the magic of high-speed internet.

Summary

So, these are the best apps to test internet speed on your phone. You don’t need to a network expert to be able to use these apps. The parameters displayed on the dashboards are self-explanatory. Although, still some people get confused between browsing speed and downloading speed. I would like to confirm that both are the same.
