Samsung’s latest flagship devices were announced at the MWC 2015. The South Korean Smartphone maker finally succumbed to popular demand, adding metal to its devices. The S6 and S6 edge are Samsung’s first all metal flagships.
Plastic is not the only thing Samsung shed though, the two devices run on Samsung’s own Exynos 7 Octa SoC and not Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810. In addition, they have 16MP cameras on the back, along with 5.1 inch 2k Super AMOLED displays. Of course, the S6 Edge also has the two edge displays on either side of it.
Unlike some of Samsung’s older flagships, the company has a lot riding on these two. With the entry of companies like Xiaomi, the South Korean market leader has seen a massive drop in its sales. Hence, Samsung has a lot riding on the S6 and S6 Edge, making them its shot at redemption.
Samsung also displayed immense confidence in the Indian market, launching the devices in India on March 23, less than a month after announcing them in Barcelona. With the S6 and S6 Edge bring back the glory days for Samsung? We will have to wait and see.
