Even though it sounds impossible, we live is a world where our floors are being cleaned by Robots. And that too by robots designed specifically for doing this task – the Robotic Floor Cleaner. Fascinating, isn’t it?
We are surrounded by technology and robotics has found its application in a multitude of things. Automatic vacuum cleaners have been in the market for quite some time now but with the invention of robotic vacuum cleaner, the commercial market has a new hit product.
So, if you are planning to buy a Robotic floor cleaner, you need to keep certain things in mind. After all, you want the best one available in the market, don’t you? Before heading out to the market you must decide what type of robotic vacuum cleaner you need. A simple one to suck in the dirt in your hard flooring or a one with sensors that can detect the dirt, has sensors and memory – Yes, they exist.
Features to look for in a Robotic floor cleaner
Power and Performance
Your robotic floor cleaner will run on batteries, so it is imperative that you look for the power and performance it offers after a complete charge cycle – more the better.
Obstacle detection and transitioning abilities
Robotic vacuums work best on hard flooring. But some models have transitioning capabilities that enables them to go from floor to a low-level surface or a carpet easily. Another feature that you should look for is an obstacle sensor that can detect if they’ve come to the edge of stairs or any obstacle and the robot can turn around at that point.
Cleaning performance
A few robotic floor cleaners come with ‘dirt detection’ capabilities that allows them to sweep the floor clean of any dust particles. The inbuilt sensors allow them to achieve this. Also, a good robotic vacuum must have the intelligence to know if a corner is missed, rather than randomly cleaning the same area over and over again.
Bin size
Not all robotic vacuum cleaners have the same dust bin size. It is more convenient to have a robot with a larger bin. Check how well it removes from the unit, as it will have to be emptied often for optimum performance, if not every time the robot works.
These were a few features that are a ‘must have’ in a Robotic floor cleaner. If you have any thoughts to add to this, do let us know in the comment section below.
