How to speed up your Android phone ? This is one of the most common questions asked by Android users, especially users who use devices with lower hardware specifications. Trying to operate a slow device can be very frustrating. Most of the times the device might freeze and users might experience a lag when switching between applications.
There are a lot of ways to speed up your Android phone or a tablet. Few of the ways require you to root your Android device. There are a lot of apps that claim to speed up Android phone as well.
We will not be discussing about any app today. I am explaining a very simple procedure that will actually boost the speed and performance of your Android phone almost instantaneously without having to root the device. At the end of this guide you will notice considerable performance improvements on your Android device.
How to speed up your Android phone ?
Lets get started !
Step 1) Go to the Settings screen and tap on ‘About Phone’.
Step 2) Scroll down to the bottom of the page and tap repeatedly on the ‘Build Number’. After 2-3 taps you will get a message, “you are ‘x’ steps from being a developer“. Where ‘x’ can be 3 or 4 depending on the number of taps. Continue tapping until you get the message, ‘You are now a developer!’. This is how we access the Developer options menu.
Step 3) You will find the ‘Developer options’ at the bottom of the Settings screen now.
Step 4) Make sure that the ‘Developer options’ is set to ON. You will find 3 interface animation options under the Drawing section, namely ‘Window animation scale’, ‘Transition animation scale’ and ‘Animator duration scale’.
Step 5) The default values for all the 3 options will be set to 1x. You need to switch this to OFF. Repeat this for all the 3 animation settings which were mentioned above.
Step 6) Once the animations are switched off, next step is to restart the Launcher. Until we restart the Launcher, the settings won’t take effect. To restart the Launcher, go to the Settings screen and open the ‘Apps’ section.
Step 7) Select the Launcher and ‘Force Stop’ it. Once the Launcher is stopped, you will need to restart it.
Simply tap on the Home button to restart the Launcher.
And that is pretty much about it. Once the Launcher is restarted, the new settings will take effect. Since the animations have been disabled, the transition will be very fast as the animation effects won’t play any role and the delay time will drastically reduce.
In short there will be less burden on the processor and there will be absolutely no waiting time for animations. Also the switching between applications will be super fast. I used this trick recently to speed up my Android phone without rooting and was amazed by the results.
This trick is quite handy for the devices that do not have a very powerful processor and good amount of RAM. Also, DO NOT change any settings in the Developer options that you are not aware of. Whenever you want to use the default setting, just switch the Developer options to OFF.
