A recent report in the Wall Street Journal suggests that the Social Media giant, Facebook, will start hosting content from authoritative publishers around the world.
This initiative may be implemented as early as May 2015. Facebook calls this new initiative as “Instant Articles” that you will notice in your Facebook timeline very soon. This is mainly focused on Facebook’s mobile app and aims at helping publishers speed up the page load time.
Top publishers like National Geographic and Buzzfeed are the first ones to take part in the initial launch.
This initiative is a win-win for the publishers as Facebook has come up with an exciting revenue plan. Facebook will give 100% of the ad revenues generated from the hosted pages to the publishers as it just wants users to spend more time on the site.
Since users have a better control on their Facebook news feed now, it will be very interesting to see how successful the “Instant Articles” turn up to be.
