How to Buy the OnePlus One in India

November 26, 2014 by Arpit Leave a Comment

All our readers in India who were waiting to get their hands on the OnePlus One have something to be happy about. Amazon India just announced that they will be selling the OnePlus One in India, come December. Even though it is a good news for enthusiasts who were waiting to buy the OnePlus One in India, don’t get carried away as you still have to struggle for that coveted ‘Invite’ in order to buy the phone.

How to buy the OnePlus One ?

The invitation system is based on the same concept that was introduced in the U.S. earlier this year. You can get an invite in two ways. The easy one is to find a person who has already purchased the OnePlus One and ask for an invite. Well, easy if you can find such a person ! The alternate way is to head to the OnePlus website and subscribe to the newsletter. When you subscribe, you enter the draw and become eligible for the OnePlus One invite.

There is also a contest called as a ‘One is a 1000’. It seems there are a few banners that have been put up on social media websites that display ‘One in a 1000’. You need to spot one of these banners and click on them and you could be one of the 1000 lucky individuals who may get an invite from Amazon to buy the phone.

If you are lucky enough to get an invite to buy the OnePlus One, remember that it is only valid for 48 hours from the time that is was generated. If your invite expires, you would have to repeat the entire process over again in order to get another one. I know, it’s crazy but that’s the rule that has been put in place.

There is no confirmation on the Indian pricing yet. The OnePlus One sells for $300 and $350 in the U.S. for the 16 GB and the 64 GB variants. That’s around 18,548 INR and 21,639 INR respectively, but the actual price will be higher than this.

One question which arises here is that will Indian consumer’s sweat it out to buy the OnePlus One running CyanogenMod ? Given that we also have the Moto X 2nd Gen and other flagship devices that can be easily purchased. Only time will tell if the OnePlus One is truly the ‘The Flagship Killer’.
