All the various screens around us are dust magnets. Be it your LCDs, tablets, smartphones or even your regular glass surfaces. Wiping dust off of the surface of these screens may seem a very simple process, however if you don’t do it in a right way, you may damage the screen. Modern LCD and tablet screens are brighter, sharper as well as very delicate. So, it becomes necessary to clean them in a proper way.
How to clean you LCD screen properly
The very first step is to prepare your screen. So, turn off the device or unplug it from the power source. HDTVs, computer screens and even tablet screens may become warm after prolonged usage. Cleaning them in this condition can be difficult and can even damage the screen.
Removing dust is the next step. The key point here it to keep your hands and fingers off the screen. You can use compressed air to blow away the dust particles that are stuck to the screen. Alternatively, a rubber bulb can be used to gently remove the dust particles before you start the cleaning process.
Even after you have dusted the screen, there might still be a few dust particles clinging on to the surface for dear life. Here comes the use of a microfiber cloth. This cloth can be used to gently wipe away the remaining dust particles from your screen without damaging it. Ensure that you only use a microfiber cloth and not a regular tissue or a kitchen towel. Another thing to keep in mind is to avoid making circular motions. The best practice is to use a swipe motion sideways or vertically.
4) Using a cleaner
The final step is to apply a small amount of screen cleaner on the microfiber cloth and gently wipe the screen in the same motion as discussed earlier. You also need to be careful while choosing a cleaner. I have tried Better Seeing Premium which is available at Amazon and it works like a charm. It can be used to clean many surfaces like eyeglasses, LCD screens, smartphones, tablets, camera lenses, PC and laptop screens. You also get a premium microfiber cloth along with the cleaner which is a steal deal.
These were a few pointers to keep in mind when cleaning an LCD screen or any type of glass surfaces in general. If you have anything to add to this discussion, do let us know in the comment section below.
