Android 5.0 Lollipop

Google has finally announced the next version of the world’s most popular mobile operating system. That’s right, Android 5.0 Lollipop is here ! Android L, as we used to call it earlier was introduced in Google’s blog post today.

Android 5.0 Lollipop brings a seamless and consistent user experience across devices and platforms. You can in a way sync all your android devices with Android 5.0 Lollipop. You can enjoy photos, apps and music across all your android devices with ease.

With Android 5.0 lollipop, you can respond to messages even when the screen is locked. You can choose the notifications that you want to view and hide the sensitive ones. If you choose not to be disturbed when watching a movie or listening to a song, Lollipop helps you choose to answer the call or ignore it while you carry on with your movie and music.

Google claims that a new feature has been introduced in the Android 5.0 lollipop that helps is extending the battery life by 90 minutes ! The new features also gives you the expected time for the charge to complete and the expected time left before you need to charge your battery again.

Another cool feature in Android 5.0 lollipop is the Guest User concept. Say, you have exchanged you phone with a friend for a day but you do not want to share the stuff that you have on the phone. Just create a Guest user and your privacy is maintained. Also, we have the encryption turned on automatically with the new device so that your data is safeguarded.

A host of other features include improved Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. They have been tweaked to consume less power and deliver better results. New controls allows the users to toggle between Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and location with ease.

With the introduction of the new Android runtime – ART, Google claims that responsiveness and application performance has improved dramatically, up to 4x performance improvements. Android 5.0 Lollipop supports x86 or 64-bit platform. This enables to bring in powerful processors to these Android devices. Also, 64-bit apps will run on this platform with ease.

Lollipop supports more than 68 languages including Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu to name a few Indian one’s. There has been a lot of improvements in terms of accessibility and the device set up. You can set up your new android device by just tapping it with your old device through NFC. Also, you can get all the apps that are installed on your old android device though Google Play.

Android 5.0 Lollipop will deliver cutting edge graphics with OpenGL ES 3.1 The gameplay has to be amazing !

These are just a few of the new features on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop. This is going to be an amazing release. I just can wait to get my hands on the new Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9 devices !
