3 Ways To Control Your Mobile Phone Usage

July 11, 2020 by devendra Leave a Comment

Mobile phones are part of our daily life. We almost need the cell phone for anything: from contacting a relative to order a pizza. Today, scientists know that mobile phones produce adverse health effects as changes in brain activity, reaction time and sleep patterns. The severity of those risks mostly depends on the frequency and intensity of the use.

Here you have 3 simple ways to control mobile phones usage:

How long do I use the mobile phone each day?

The first step for start changing your habits is finding out how many hours a day you use your cell phone. Apps like Moment can help you monitoring the time you spend through graphs and reminders.

Once you know how much you use your device, decide how much you want to reduce it. Better to start reducing one hour or thirty minutes a day.

Turn off notifications

This is something I personally do since a long time ago and I can assure is very effective. We all have felt the need of checking the phone when it sounds or when the screen lights up. Then, if we stop those things from happening, your phone interactions will drastically decrease.

Just go to your phone Settings _and look for something named _Notifications. Depending on which mobile you have, you probably will have to go to each app (start with social media) and turn off notifications manually.

Practice social distancing with your device

The final tip can seem extreme but if you want to really reduce your mobile phone use, you should do it.

The main reason why we use the phone so much is because it is near us all the time. At work many people use their phone for communicating job issues, that’s ok. But what about when you arrive home with the family? I can assure many of you make a great effort putting aside the device for sharing with your relatives.

Solution? As soon as the right time comes, put your phone in another room. You need to charge it? Put it in the living room if you are going to be in your room. If you want to go even further, keep it in a kitchen cabinet (out of reach of children please) and focus in your next activity.

Following these tips can difficult at the beginning, so it’s important to remind yourself to keep calm, ask for your relatives help if necessary. Just be persistent and you will see the results.
