Recently one of our reader’s asked me a question:
I am looking for a software or a tool to create a flowchart online. Can you recommend a free service for this purpose which is easy to use?
There are a lot of tools or ‘online flowchart makers’ than can be used to create flowchart’s online. I have tried different online tools and two of them stand out.
This tool works entirely online, so you don’t have to download anything on to your computer. Even flash is not required as Gliffy uses the safer and more reliable HTML5. To get started, just open up the website and click on the “Start Drawing” button. You will be greeted with a “Getting Started” guide that basically tells you how to use the tool to create flowcharts.
Using the tool to make flowcharts is pretty easy. You just need to use the drag and drop functionality to select the shapes from the Gliffy library on to the virtual graph paper. In addition to creating flowcharts, Gliffy also has tools for creating Venn Diagrams, floor plans and a lot more.
Lucidchart is a little more sophisticated program that can be used to create flowchart’s online. The basic version of this tool can be used for free but you have to sign up in order to use this online tool. You also have the option to try the demo before you sign up, however you will not be able to save your document in the demo mode.
You can check out Lucidchart’s 1 minute tour that will teach you how to use the program to create online flowcharts. After you sign up with a free account, you get 25MB of secure online storage to save your documents. Once the document is saved, it can be accessed from any device.
These were the two of the best free softwares/tools that you can use to create a flowchart online. If you have any question and would like me to answer it for you, visit the Contact page and email me your query. I will be glad to help you with the answer.
